Work starts on Lamb House bridge

The long awaited licence from Dorset Council has arrived and the team were able to start work on Saturday on uncovering Lamb House Bridge in preparation for waterproofing. The method statement in the licence specifies that the work will initially be carried out by two excavators positioned on either side of the bridge dragging the spoil backwards from the centre to avoid putting additional strain on either end of the arch. Spoil next to the parapet walls is being removed by hand. The surface is being brushed clean in preparation for a coat of bituminous primer to seal the brickwork. An excellent days work: even the sun joined in coming out to help dry the last of the spoil on the brickwork and make it easier to brush away.
