Whistle Up

We were pleased to join in with the "Whistle Up" event. This year is the 200th anniversary of the first passenger service on the other S&D, the Stockton & Darlington railway. We, and many other heritage railways, joined in the celebrations of this momentous anniversary by holding a whistle up event. At midday Ashdown, our diesel locomotive, sounded its horn, watched by a good crowd of visitors who had come along to mark the event, despite the appalling weather. Our friends at Project 62 also joined in, but were unable to fire up 30075 for the occassion, so they improvised and sounded the whistle of 30076 using compressed air instead!
