Goodbye to the Esso Tanker

Having been moved to the loading dock the previous weekend, the Esso tanker was winched onto a low-loader in preparation for its journey to the Great Central Railway at Loughborough, where it will join a collection of similar tankers.  It had been at Shillingstone since 2010, and was bought by NDR in 2017.  Proceeds from the sale of the tanker will go towards NDR’s evolution into an operational railway.

Meanwhile, four trees which were obstructing the new track extension were cut back or felled.  The timber will be seasoned for a year or two and then used to heat the café and shop.
