Earthworks nearly complete
DATE POSTED: 16 Sep 2024We are delighted to report that, apart from a little bit of final grading and rolling, the earthworks on the embankment are now complete. The embankment has been raised to give the correct 1:80 gradient between the Lamb House and Cattle Creep bridges, widened to accommodate the cess and the profile has been improved to ensure maximum stability. These works have required approximately 2000 tonnes of fill which has been added in layers of 250-300mm, compacted and rolled.
The next stage will be to move all the sleepers, chairs and rail needed for tracklaying into place on the embankment. The Terram membrane and ballast can then be put in place to complete the trackbed and tracklaying can start. Well done, P-way team!
