Completion of structural work on the embankment

Nearly there! The newly reinstated embankment north of Lamb House Bridge is now at the correct levels and is structurally complete, two weeks ahead of schedule. This has involved moving over 1500 Tonnes of material (in excess of 500 dumper loads), spreading in thin layers and compacting to reform the profile of the original railway embankment destroyed after the railway was closed in the 1960's. All this work has been done with our own plant and volunteer labour. We now need to complete the final ancillary works (fencing, drainage, trimming and topsoiling) in the next few weeks, prior to the commencement of tracklaying, hopefully this side of Christmas, depending on the weather.
